What is chamomile?

Chamomile is a plant with white and yellow flowers. Its name derives from its smell, which is reminiscent of the aroma of an apple.

The most used part of this plant is its flower, since it has been shown that infusions made with it help reduce a variety of discomforts, including:

  • Chamomile is related to the care of the stomach and the treatment of conditions such as gastric ulcers, gastritis, etc., all due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
  • The use of this plant is recorded in ancient cultures such as the Egyptian one, in which it was used as a remedy for almost anything.
  • Due to its low calorie content, it is ideal for avoiding weight gain and can be consumed by people with obesity or a chronic disease. It contains small amounts of calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and some vitamins such as B1 and B2.
  • Due to its healing properties, chamomile is a good painkiller. In addition, it decongests the respiratory tract, helps with diseases such as flu and colds, reduces inflammation of the intestines and helps with digestive disorders, urinary tract conditions and menstrual pain. Externally it is used as an anti-inflammatory, to help the skin heal and for other antiseptic purposes.
